Zippo lighters are wind-proof, refillable, and built to last — which is why they are so collectible. This guide covers the basics of looking after one, and what to expect when you order from Kranith's Korner.
Why do our lighters ship with no fluid?
All lighters at Kranith's Korner ship with no fluid. That is a shipping rule, not a defect: lighter fluid is flammable, and shipping a filled lighter would break carrier rules. Your lighter will arrive empty, and you fill it yourself with standard lighter fluid, which you can buy separately.
Filling your Zippo
Lift the lighter out of its case, lift the felt pad on the bottom, and add fluid slowly to the packing material inside. Do not overfill — stop when the packing looks damp, not soaked. Let any excess evaporate and wipe the lighter dry before you light it, and always fill it away from flames and in a well-ventilated area.
Everyday care
Keep your Zippo clean and dry, and store it somewhere it will not get knocked around. Over time, the flint will wear down and the wick will shorten — both are normal, and both are replaceable parts on a Zippo. If your lighter stops sparking reliably, a fresh flint is usually the first thing to check.
Finding your model
Every Zippo listing at Kranith's Korner includes its model number in the title and web address — for example, #47259 or #47183. That number is the easiest way to identify a design, compare it with other listings, or find the same design again later.
Good to know before you order
You must be 18 or older to buy a lighter. Shipping is US only, and orders are generally handed to the carrier the same business day or the next business day. Shipping charges are calculated automatically at checkout.
